Hot Fuzz
Sergeant Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) works in the London Metropolitan Police Force. He is a very good cop. He is so good, in fact, that he makes all the other cops look bad, so they decide to send him out to the country. Sandford, Gloucestershire to be exact. Even before his first day he arrests four people, three for underage drinking and one for driving under the influence. As it turns out, the guy he arrested for the DUI is his new partner, PC Danny Butterman (Nick Frost).
For the next few weeks the only interesting things that happens are: a swan escapes and they are unable to catch it; there's a farmer that started cutting a hedge that wasn't his (as it turns out there are tons of illegal weapons and even an underwater mine in his shed which Angel takes to the evidence locker); there was a robbery in the grocery store owned by Simon Skinner (Timothy Dalton); and oh yeah the really bad lead actor and his mistresses were beheaded in an accident.
Angel sees a murder, but the rest of the police force sees an accident. Even after three more people die in very unusual ways, Angel is the only one to see a connection. His theory leads him straight to Skinner. Unfortunately Skinner's alibi checks out. Unable to put it aside, he is attacked in his room and discovers it is Skinner behind it, but he isn't doing the actually killings. After following Skinner he discovers that the entire Neighborhood Watch is in on it. It isn't even for the reason Angel thought it was. These people and others were killed in order to make the town a perfect place. They even killed this one woman because her laugh was annoying.
Armed with this new information, and the weapons in the evidence locker, Angel and Danny totally kick ass versus the NWA and win back the town from the psycho murderers. Yay! By the way, the entire fight scene was completely and totally awesome.
I loved this movie. Made by the same people that did Shaun of the Dead, it had the exact same feel to it, but done better. It was filled with British humor and action and friendship and really a cool fight scene. The story made sense and flowed well, the bad guys.... well they could have been a bit better, but they were still reasonable. And hey it's a comedy.
