Wedding Wars

We start this movie for TV watching some governor, Conrad Welling (James Brolin) blah blah about how he wants to get re-elected, blah. He's all like "This couldn't be possible without the help of my wife and daughter" and we cut to his daughter lip smacking with the governor's speech writer (among other things). It's okay though, because he just proposed to her.

So Ben (Eric Dane) and Maggie (Bonnie Somerville) enlist the aid of Ben's brother Shel (John Stamos) to plan the wedding. Everything is going splendidly until gay marriage becomes a topic in the election.  Ben writes a speech for the Governor opposing gay marriage.  And since Shel is gay this does not go over nicely with him. Two weeks to the wedding he goes on strike.  Things aren't going well for Shel, even the news makes him look like a fool. But when other gays see the report and the bad comments made by the anchorman, they decide to go on strike also. All over America.

As the strike goes on, the Governor's popularity goes up. Finally Shel realizes that he isn't helping. So he calls off the strike just in time for Ben and Maggie to get married.

This movie wasn't as cute or as funny as I thought it would be. I was a little disappointed with the film.  Although the acting was great, and everything was fine with the script; it was just lacking something.  It was also a little stereotypical in places. Like how all lesbians ride motorcycles, or how they are the only ones good with power tools, or even how the newswoman couldn't get another hairstylist because they were all gay and on strike. Maybe, for the last one, they were just all striking, even the straight ones, to support their gay brethren or something. It was still weird.

There was nothing really wrong with this movie, it just wasn't as good as I was hoping it was.
